01 Information we collect

Account information. Email address and password (if you sign up directly), or your name and email from Apple/Google if you use "Sign in with Apple/Google." We never see or store your Apple/Google password.

Profile information. Display name, username, bio, and profile photo — all set by you, all editable.

Content you create. Posts (photos, videos, captions), comments and replies, direct messages to your companions, goals, milestones, habits, reflections, and circle posts.

Photo/camera access. Only requested when you choose to pick or take a photo to post or use as your profile picture — never accessed in the background.

• We do not collect: your location, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity outside the app.
• Kept on your device only, never uploaded: your box-breathing session count.

02 How we use it

To run the app's actual features: signing you in, showing your feed and profile, delivering messages to the right person, tracking your goals/habits/growth score, and letting companions cheer or comment on what you share.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not run behavioral advertising of any kind.

03 Who we share it with

Other users, based on your own settings. Your public profile and public posts are visible to anyone using Benefit. Companion-only content is visible only to people you've mutually connected with. Direct messages are visible only to you and the specific person you're messaging.

Service providers who help run Benefit — under their own security obligations, never for their own marketing use:

• Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
• Apple and Google — process "Sign in with Apple/Google" if you use it.
• Expo — provides the infrastructure the app is built and delivered through.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

04 Storage, security & transfers

Your data is stored with Supabase and transmitted using encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. Access to your private content is restricted at the database level so that only you — and whoever you've chosen to share with — can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't take shortcuts on this.

Benefit's infrastructure may process and store data in the United States. If you're using Benefit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed there.

05 Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, posts, and messages are removed from active systems; residual copies may remain briefly in backups before they cycle out, and we may retain minimal records where needed to comply with law or resolve disputes.

06 Your choices & rights

• Edit or delete any post, comment, goal, or habit at any time.
• Control whether your posts are companion-only or public, and whether your streaks are visible, from Settings.
• Block or report another user directly from their profile or a post.
• Delete your entire account and its data from Settings → Delete Account.

07 Privacy law rights (GDPR/CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your information — including the right to request a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it's processed. Benefit does not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 10 — we'll respond within the time required by applicable law.

08 Children's privacy

Benefit is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

09 Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.

01 Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Benefit. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. Give us accurate information when you sign up.

02 Your content

You own everything you post — photos, videos, captions, reflections, goals. By posting it, you give Benefit a license to store and display it back to you and to whoever you've chosen to share it with (based on your privacy settings), only for the purpose of operating the app. That license ends when you delete the content or your account.

03 Acceptable use

Don't use Benefit to:

• Harass, threaten, or bully another person.
• Post illegal content, or content you don't have the rights to share.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Spam, scrape, or attempt to access accounts that aren't yours.

Use the Report or Block tools if someone violates this — we review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that don't follow these rules.

04 Copyright & DMCA

If you believe something posted on Benefit infringes your copyright, send a notice to info@benefitagency.net including: a description of the work, the location of the material in the app, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We'll review and remove infringing content where warranted, and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

05 Wellness disclaimer

Benefit is a self-improvement and journaling tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. Nothing in the app — including the growth score, reflections, or box-breathing exercises — is a substitute for professional care. If you're in crisis, please contact a medical professional or, in the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

06 Purchases

Benefit may offer optional premium features through in-app purchase, processed entirely through Apple's App Store payment system and subject to Apple's own terms and refund policies. We don't handle or store your payment details ourselves.

07 Disclaimers & liability

Benefit is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the extent allowed by law, Benefit isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

08 Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

09 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

10 General provisions

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Benefit.
